The sleeping area is located on the upper floor of the Villa which is accessible by a majestic wooden staircase, completely restored and enhanced during the renovation. The floor is paved with solid oak wood, and it's equipped with modern heating and air conditioning. There are five rooms, all furnished keeping high standards of quality and comfort: every room is equipped with elegant curtains, built-in wardrobe, refined upholstered bed and Television, other than a private marble bathroom with shower bidet and luxurious finishings.
•Magnolia Room. The historical master bedroom. It is characterized by two big windows over a privileged view of the Lake and of the pool. The prevalent color is ancient-pink that associate the curtains and the wall of the bed, and its bathroom is made of travertine marble.
•Ninfea Room. It's the only bedroom with a balcony that overlooks the pool and it has a view of the lake. The prevalent color is turquoise green, it has a twin bed and its bathroom is made of white Carrara marble. It is accessible by a small entrance with a built-in wardrobe and it is equipped with big TV screen on the wall in front of the bed.
•Peonia Room. Even if it does not have the view over the Lake but is oriented towards the park, it is the most luxurious room of the entire Villa: it is furnished with an elegant poster-bed entirely covered with silk. The bathroom is made of dark grey marble and the prevalent color is dove-grey.
•Gardenia Room. It is considered as the suite of the Villa: it is the widest room, with twin beds and a small living room with an elegant sofa that, if needed, becomes a third bed. The suite is in front of the lake, it has two big windows and its predominant color is powder-blue. The bathroom is covered with royal marble.
•Camelia Room. It is the smallest room, with twin beds and a beautiful view over the park. The characterizing color is green, while the bathroom is made of absolute white marble.
The living area.
The living area is sited on the ground floor and it is entirely paved in polished roman travertine. The core of the floor is the big hall, facing its own private garden which is furnished with an outside living room covered by an elegant white voile, and facing a wide veranda with drapes and a view of the lake, furnished with a wrought iron living room. The guests can relax on the white leather Chesterfield sofas that surround the Alps-green marble fireplace, they can enjoy one of the many liquors that are contained inside an elegant black leather vintage cocktail cabinet, they can engage in a chess game over the old card table, or maybe lay down to watch some TV on the adjacent living room. The hall is embellished with an old Austrian grand piano, completely renovated and functioning.
From the hall it is possible to enter, through a corridor, in a kitchen made of stainless steel equipped with professional tools, and also with a wide window overlooking the park. Proceeding through the corridor we reach an elegant ante-room and then a small bathroom with shower. Finally we can find the relax area, with TV and sofa, that, if necessary, becomes the sixth bedroom with double bed. This room overlooks the arbor with transparent glass roof, equipped with table and barbeque grill, where it is possible to grill meat or fish, having lunch next to the swimming pool and enjoying the view over the Lake.
The arbor is linked to a small balcony belonging to the dining room, also accessible from the entrance hall. It overlooks the Lake and it is furnished with precious cherry wood furnishes, an elegant table and chandeliers in Murano glass.
Relax and wellness area.
The wellness area occupies all the basement floor and it is accessible directly from the garden, through four big French windows, or from the travertine stairwell descending from the living area, embellished by numerous watercolors depicting glimpses of Lake Maggiore's landscapes. Here our guests can relax inside the jacuzzi or the Turkish bath and they can workout with professional gym equipment, then rest over comfortable relax beds or sip herbal tea prepared in the herbal tea corner. Upon request it is possible to book massages of any kind. The fitness area is equipped with its own private bathroom with shower and with the laundry room, equipped with washing machine, dryer and electric iron.
Just next to the wellness area a multifunction space has been designed with walls of natural stone, TV, several sofas, armchairs and an impressive refectory table, previously belonged to the former owners of the Villa. Also from this room a beautiful view of the lake is guaranteed with direct access to the garden, through three big French windows made of glass.
The garden and the swimming pool.
The park is laid over several levels that alternates from the entrance gate up to the pine forest. Following the entrance alley, at the first curve there is the access at a wide terraced garage and then, going on, the square made of stone, next to the entry staircase of the Villa. The swimming pool has been designed in a privileged position, over a terracing on the ground floor level, which allows to enjoy the Lake view while swimming. The lawn around the pool is garnished with elegant iron deckchairs, sunshades, shower and an old table made of stone useful to drink something under the shades of the trees. From the swimming pool starts an old stone staircase that runs through all the following terraces until reaching the last floor before the pine forest: from here the view is breathtaking and it is possible to take a walk to discover the tranquility of the pine forest.
The Lake Maggiore is one of the three most picturesque Italian lakes. Villa Ermelinda overlooks the Borromean Gulf which is the most elegant and evocative point, dominated by the Borromean Islands and by the renowned city of Stresa, which with its luxurious hotels established half of the international jet set until right after the first postwar period. The peculiarity of the location is not strictly linked to the lake, but it extends also at the Alps surrounding it and able to offer activities for mountain and skiing enthusiasts too.
The Borromean Islands
These are the three islands characterizing and decorating the Borromean Gulf, all available for visits and reachable by taxi boat or private boat. The Isola dei Pescatori is a picturesque village populated by a community still dedicated to fishing, it hosts several typical restaurants in which is possible to taste delicious courses of freshly caught fish from the lake. The Isola Bella hosts the majestic Borromean Palace, built in the XVII century, and its luxurious Italian garden. The Isola Madre is entirely occupied by a botanic garden rich in rare plants and free animals; immerse in this botanical beauty there is a palace from the XVI century, with an exhibition of historical puppets and paintings of great significance.
The far north part of Lake Maggiore is on Swiss territory, which is accessible by the border, about 35 Km from Villa Ermelinda. The cities overlooking the lake are Locarno and Ascona; the latter, in particular, is very elegant and sophisticated also thanks to its wide lakefront with a constellation of bars and restaurants, frequently animated by live music and dance shows under the stars.
The Lake Orta
The Lake Orta is a sheet of freshwater separated from the Borromean Gulf by the mount Mottarone and reachable from Villa Ermelinda in about half an hour by car. It is very characteristic because it is populated by large ancient villas and by historical villages overlooking the side of the lake. Orta San Giulio represents the most appreciated village from the tourists because of its narrow alleys with typical restaurants and because of the historic square, overlooking the small island of San Giulio, where, still nowadays, a convent stands.
Trekking and skiing enthusiasts find in the Lake Orta a destination up to their expectations: there are lots and lots of itineraries accessible on mountain trails, spending the night in typical mountain lodges or maybe having a nice outdoor lunch-picnic or in one of the many restaurants. Macugnaga, the waterfall of Toce river or the Val Grande natural park are just a few of the destinations to visit. During winter, it is possible to reach in very short time, some of the most important skiing facilities and spend fun days on fresh snow.
The cities and the territory
The Lake Maggiore is located in a privileged spot, allowing the guests not only to explore the lake environment, but also to reach some of the most famous and well-known areas and Italian cities. Villa Ermelinda is two minutes away from the highway heading to the charming Milan in less than an hour, or to the famous Lake Como. The Italian wine enthusiasts can reach in less than two hours the prestigious vinicultural farms over the Langhe and the Monferrato hills, or maybe the wineries in the Franciacorta region. For those wanting to spend a few weeks in Villa Ermelinda and don't mind traveling for more hours, maybe with a high-speed train, they have the chance to visit cities such as Venice, Florence, Verona, Bologna or Turin, whose beauty and charm are known worldwide.
Activities and itineraries
The natural form of Lake Maggiore and the richness and variety of its territory allow to meet the needs and tastes of every sport lovers. During summer it is possible to enjoy the lake from different perspectives, organizing motorboat rides, water skiing, spending a few hours canoeing, scuba diving, or trying more modern activities such as flyboard. There are many golf courses, in which it is possible to spend lovely days both for who is already an expert and for who wants to try it for the first time. Extreme sports enthusiasts will be able to organize experiences of paragliding and mountain-climbing, or a few kilometers away it is possible to organize parachuting. Even lovers of engines find several opportunities: talking about freshwater both water motors and motorboats trips are available for rent; about the dry land it is possible to organize motorbike itineraries, or maybe reach, in about one hour, the Monza racetrack, house of the Italian Grand Prix, to try out the cars directly on the track. The lake can be discovered also by bike, walking or horse riding, or, to enjoy a really breathtaking view, it is possible to organize a helicopter tour, from where you'll have a very unique view of the Lake.
Shows and events
During winter time in some towns dance shows are organized, or theatre plays, other than the typical Christmas markets in December. Theatre lovers can buy the tickets for operas and ballet for the famous Coccia Theatre in Novara, easily reachable by highway, and surely they can not miss the chance to assist opera performances at the famous Teatro Alla Scala in the center of Milan. In springtime and summertime there are lots of open air shows and events: other than parties and tastings organized by the many clubs on the beach and by the characteristic and romantic restaurants on the lake; it is possible to participate to the Stresa Festival, or maybe at the more famous Locarno Cinema Festival, or else at the numerous concerts of internationally renowned artists in the famous Piazza Grande of the Swiss city.
